Everyone in their right mind doesn’t pay attention to PETA‘s advertising/scare tactics. Adland is now reporting that PETA stakes a claim in at PETA.XXX. I guest they don’t want your to eat your meat, just beat your meat.

PETA falls short of even getting vegetarians to pay attention to their exploitation tactics. Instead of exploiting animals for fun and profit, they have a long history of exploiting women through the use of sexual imagery. Maybe it’s time for them to change tactics so that regular people don’t think of them as an extremist group, whom exploit women as opposed to a group against exploitation of animals.

Stepping Stone, a Canadian advocacy group for sex workers has launched a campaign earlier this year aimed at people whom scoff at sex workers. The groups non-profit executive director says the campaign was partially motivated by the way prostitutes are referenced in media coverage. “If we look at last week’s coverage of a trial a couple weeks ago, one of the headlines was all about ‘prostitute’; it did not talk about anything about these women as women,” says Rene Ross.

I think that I could just start and end this post with the above heading. She’s a politician that’s a do-good busy body trying to regulate the sex life of everyone in Utah. Unfortunately I need to go into some details of why I think she’s an idiot. If you’ve been reading TSC for a while you’ll know that politicians are some of my favorite targets, plain and simple. Politicians that try to regulate sex and sexuality are some of the lowest forms of scum this planet has ever produced. She’s no exception.

The politicians that don’t represent Utah’s enacted a law during the 2011 session to “Protect The Children” (How many fucking time do we have to hear this line). Two escort services services have filed a federal lawsuit to halt a Utah solicitation law they fear could lead to the arrest of strippers or escorts who are simply acting sexy. The new law broadens the definition of solicitation. Officers, having solved all other violent crimes have decided that they need a new tool in fighting another victimless crime. Jennifer Seelig gave a BS quote to the Washington post telling them that it’s another tool to help combat sex trafficking in Utah. Statically, under age sex trafficking effects less than 1% of all the prostitution in America. Survey’s done by pro sex worker groups have found that almost none of their constituents have been forced into the sex trade.

Jennifer Seelig has flat out told the Washington Post that the intent of the law is to target prostitutes. Read this, the law is intended to target a victimless crime so that they may generate revenue for the state. Remember, prostitution laws target the “Victim” while barely punishing “Aggressor”. Typical prostitution laws will let the Jon’s off with a slap on the wrist while forcing the victim down the slippery slope of becoming a sex offender.

The full text of the law is below:

76-10-1313. Sexual solicitation — Penalty.
(1) A person is guilty of sexual solicitation when the person:
(a) offers or agrees to commit any sexual activity with another person for a fee;
(b) pays or offers or agrees to pay a fee to another person to commit any sexual activity; or
(c) with intent to engage in sexual activity for a fee or to pay another person to commit any sexual activity for a fee engages in, offers or agrees to engage in, or requests or directs another to engage in any of the following acts:
(i) exposure of a person’s genitals, the buttocks, the anus, the pubic area, or the female breast below the top of the areola;
(ii) masturbation;
(iii) touching of a person’s genitals, the buttocks, the anus, the pubic area, or the female breast; or
(iv) any act of lewdness.
(2) An intent to engage in sexual activity for a fee may be inferred from a person’s engaging in, offering or agreeing to engage in, or requesting or directing another to engage in any of the acts described in Subsection (1)(c) under the totality of the existing circumstances.
(3) (a) Sexual solicitation is a class B misdemeanor, except under Subsection (3)(b).
(b) Any person who is convicted a second or subsequent time under this section or under a local ordinance adopted in compliance with Section 76-10-1307, is guilty of a class A misdemeanor, except as provided in Section 76-10-1309.
